Brose Belt Maintenance Kit – S Mag Motors / Specialized Gen2

Official Brose Belt Replacement Kit for Brose motors with magnesium housing (Brose S Mag, Brose Gen2, Specialized Turbo Gen 2 and Gen 3 motors).

How to recognize which motor you have?

The aluminum motors are with a silver/aluminum housing, while all magnesium motors have a black housing. Usually found on bikes produced before 2019. They are used on all Specialized Turbo bikes before 2019 – Turbo Levo, Kenevo, Terro, etc. Also found on bikes from Decathlon, Bulls, Rotwild, etc.

Is preventive maintenance of the belt required?

Yes, we strongly recommend changing the belt every 3-5000kms. Preventive belt replacement allows you to skip belt ruptures, which can lead to more expensive repairs – like broken belt tensioners, broken planetary gears, etc. It also allows you to review the internal state of the motor.

This kit includes the new reinforced drive belt, offering improved durability and performance. Changing the belt requires removing the motor from the bike and using specific instruments and greases. If you are located in Spain or Portugal, at BiciFix, we can do this Brose motor service for you.

If your motor still has the original pre-2020 belt, it’s strongly recommended to upgrade to this reinforced version to prevent premature wear or belt failure.

Important:
If the belt has already broken, a complete internal cleaning of the motor is essential – belt fragments can damage the internal planetary plastic gears if left inside.

Kit Contents:

• Reinforced Carbon Belt

• New magnesium screws (must always be replaced; magnesium hardware is single-use)

• Main Motor Housing Gasket

• Bearing Seat O-Ring (for the rotor support bearing located in the cover)

Installation:
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly (vaseline) on the belt before installation. Adjust the tension after closing the motor  with a calibrated torque wrench to 0.2 Nm.
