This kit includes all bearings and one-way clutches required for a complete overhaul of Brose Alu and Mag motors. The kit includes an upgraded axle seal to prevent water ingress.

It solves common issues such as creaking noises, chainring or crank slippage, motor tractioning more than necessary, loss of traction, or failure of the internal sprag clutches.

Brose motors, also used in many Specialized e-bikes, often suffer from water ingress and clutch wear. This kit allows a restoration of the internal transmission system. The inclusion of the improved axle shaft needle bearing with additional seal increases water resistance compared to the original design.

Recommendations for working on Brose ebike motors:

Use grease without solid additives such as PTFE, Teflon, MoS₂, ceramic additives, etc.

Greases containing such additives must not be used on the one-way clutches, as they can cause malfunction or premature failure. We recommend the grease we use in our workshop, which we sell. One jar is enough for the repair of 2-3 motors.

We also recommend the addition of the X-ring seals, which provide additional sealing of the motor, especially in wet climates:

While most of the bearings are straightforward to replace, care should be taken when replacing the internal sprag inside the aluminum pulley wheel. The bearing is inside a pressed sleeve, which is very fragile.

  • To access the pulley clutch, remove the big pulley bearing and reinstall after assembly.
  • Heat the pulley gear to safely remove the bearing race.

Always replace the belt if it has not been changed within the last 1,000 km.
